I can feel it in the crisp morning air and I can smell the pumpkin spice. I am ready for cozy sweaters and leaves crunching underfoot—Fall is on the way! And I have to say, this is hands down my favorite time of year. The colors are just stunning, and there's something so magical about how everything seems to glow in golden light. While you’re sipping on your favorite warm drink, why not take a moment to capture your family in all their autumn glory? Life is busy, and kids don’t stop growing just because we’re running around trying to keep up with them! Whether your kiddos are still tiny and toddling or they’ve grown into (gasp!) teenagers, documenting these moments are priceless. That’s why I love fall mini sessions—they’re short, sweet, and full of fun!
Why Family Photos Are So Important
Let’s be real—no one stays the same for long. One day, you’re chasing after toddlers who think not napping is a superpower, and the next, you’re trying to convince your teenager to smile for just one family photo. (We've all been there, right?) Family photos are like a time capsule—they freeze moments that otherwise slip by in the blink of an eye. Years from now, you’ll be able to look back and say, “Remember when you used to wear that jacket every day?” or “Wow, I can’t believe how much we’ve all changed!” Photos let you hold onto the little things, the big things, and everything in between.
Fall = The Perfect Backdrop (and Mood!)
There’s something about fall that makes everything feel just right. The colorful leaves, the crisp air, and the cozy outfits—it’s the perfect backdrop for fun, relaxed family photos. Small kids can have a blast playing in leaf piles, while older kids and grown-ups can soak in the beauty and enjoy some time together. Plus, I mean, who can resist the charm of a good flannel shirt and boots? Not to mention, the way those fall colors seem to make everyone look like they belong in a postcard!
Let’s Make It a Tradition
Since fall is such a special season, why not make it a yearly tradition to get the family together for some updated photos? It’s the best way to see how everyone’s grown (without needing to dig out old holiday cards!) and to capture your family's unique journey year after year. One of my favorite spots for fall mini sessions is the Snoqualmie Valley Trail in Duvall. The way the trees create a breathtaking arch of fiery reds, oranges, and yellows, right next to the peaceful river, is simply unbeatable. It’s the perfect setting to celebrate the unique beauty of this season while documenting your family’s journey. So, grab your loved ones, your favorite fall outfit, and let’s make some memories. You can book a fall mini with me on the trail using this link: https://www.jphairowphotography.com/Fall-Trail-Minis/
Whether your kids are tiny or fully grown, there’s always time to play in the beauty of fall. And trust me, the colors at the Snoqualmie Valley Trail are going to make your photos shine just as bright as the moments we capture!
